Morehead has run the Baylor University endowment since 2011 and the fund is now around $2.6 to $2.7 billion, up from $2.2 billion fourteen months earlier and $1.4 billion a few years before that. He came from the public side, as a senior portfolio manager at several Chicago hedge funds covering corporate securities, distressed debt and public and private energy.

The agents coordinating was designed behaviour and surprised nobody at OpenAI, since they were trained as a multi-agent system. What was new was a model capable enough to find an exploit in the research sandbox and then in production infrastructure it did not own, and his fix is to pull alignment and monitoring back into development from deployment, where the attention had always been.
